New Ro Kimono

No, I haven't brought another one. Due to the big clean up I've found a few bolts I've brought but never got round to sewing, I've got quite a few but off the top of my head I have 2 furisode karinui, 1 kurotomesode bolt, 1 furisode bolt, 3 yukata bolts and 1 ro tsukesage or houmongi bolt. So In a bid to make a dent in my WIP pile I started on the ro bolt, seeing you dont have to line the kimono I thought it would make a good starting point.
This bolt was brought years ago but when I recieved it it looked like someone has chopped a bit off the ends, so thinking that the bolt was to short to make a kimono I put it away in my fabric stash. It's only when I saw it again that I started to think 'I'll just measure it just in case there is enough for a kimono' and lo and behold there was 12 meters, just enough for a kimono. So I started and luckly for me there are markings on the bolt telling you where to cut so that was easy. The only problem I had was the collar and sewing, a little tip don't sew ro using the sewing machine. Make a mistake and you won't be able to get rid of the needle marks from the fabric! Anyway I've nearly finished the kimono, just have to attach the sleeves and hem the thing and I'll be done. I'm going to wear this at the japanese matsuri in london on september 18th.

Gotta love the colour :)

Matsuri ? Sounds like a perfect excuse to ride to London in September.
That green kimono fabric looks fabulous.
Could it be that you're starting to find bolts of fabric because your eyesight is now so much better ?
Congratulations on that operation by the way, I'm glad it went so well.
