1st Ever Kitsuke

As this is a blog dedicated to kimono/life (more kimono :P) I thought it appropriate to post my 1st ever attempt at wearing a kimono (called kitsuke in japanese, for those who don't know).
Now as my friends can tell you, i'm not a big fan of the colour pink....in all forms. However when i saw this set i just had to have it, i'm not to sure what made me want to buy it maybe it was the beaded zori & matching clutch? Who knows?
Anyway as i was going to the royal opera house for my birthday, what better opportunity to wear this set. So i started to practise my kitsuke and here's the result



Now here's a warning to anyone out there wanting to learn how to wear a kimono, DON'T start practising with a fukuro obi!!! It took me 2 hours to tie the thing! 2 hours! I nearly passed out because of the heat.
I do have pictures of me in the outfit at the royal opera house but there on a another computer, so i'm going to post them another time.
